Affonso Reidy

I was lucky enough recently to find the book “The Works of Affonso Reidy” at an affordable price…and what a treasure trove it is! Written by Franck Klaus, and Published in 1960 by Verlag Gerd Hatje, Germany – I believe it has been republished several times since, but to have the original is something special I think.

Reidy was undoubtedly one of the greatest Architects of the 20th Century, and had a huge impact on contemporary Brazilian Architecture in particular.

There are also several domestic projects including in the book which are probably not as well known as his huge projects, but equally as beautiful…..and just looking at some of the early dates of several of these projects is mind blowing.

I will do some more in-depth posts soon, on some of the quite detailed projects featured in this publication, including some of the domestic ones… but for now here is just a very brief snapshot view of some of the superb graphics, drawings, models and photographs from the book.
